Country Thunder

Country Thunder is a music festival brand that hosts several concerts in North America each year. They have operated Country Thunder Wisconsin and Country Thunder Arizona since 2007, and Country Thunder Saskatchewan and Country Thunder Alberta since 2005 and 2016 respectively. Each year, the festivals are proud to boast some of the hottest names in country music, while also delivering a special experience. Held in some of the most picturesque locations in the United States and Canada, Country Thunder and Executive Producer Troy Vollhoffer are proud to offer a family friendly experience for fans of all ages.

Prior to 2007, Country Thunder Wisconsin and Country Thunder Arizona were under different management, and it became apparent that the festivals would no longer be able to operate without a change in ownership. Premier Global Production had been the staging and lighting vendor the festivals for over 16 years. Having already purchased Country Thunder Saskatchewan in 2005, PGP saw an opportunity to expand their ownership, while reviving two beloved shows.

Premier Global Production originated in Canada and was founded by Troy. In the early 1990’s, PGP set up their U.S. headquarters in Nashville, TN. Premier Global has made tremendous strides under Troy’s leadership. What was once a single stage operation is now one of the industry’s leaders in staging and lighting equipment and provides staff to over 20 festivals a year and numerous tours.

The festivals are now managed by an entire team dedicated to Country Thunder. The management team consists of a group with years of experience in the festival industry and deep ties to the Nashville entertainment community. These two assets alone ensure an organized and efficient event that offers A-list talent every year. The philosophy of the group is to provide the best talent available to fans, to build a positive festival experience, and to provide the best value for that elusive entertainment dollar.

Country Thunder Wisconsin 2015 was named Festival of the Year by the Academy of Country Music. Country Thunder Arizona 2018 was a proud recipient of the same award.

As well, organizers strive to be good corporate citizens, supporting many non-profit and charitable organizations in the surrounding areas. On April 27th, 2018 Country Thunder Music Festivals and the Country Thunder Foundation held a benefit concert in Saskatoon, SK to in response to the Humboldt Broncos bus crash. The event raised more than $600,000 to support the affected families and athletes. The teams and Troy Vollhoffer were awarded with the 2018 Slaight Music Humanitarian Award by the Canadian Country Music Association.
